"We're All in this Together"
PAR, (Professionals, Advocates, Resources) and OSDA (Ohio Self Determination Association) for the 1st time our two, organizations are jointly hosting a statewide conference on October 5-7, 2011. Both organizations have held annual conferences for many years and have been a source of training, professional development and advocacy in the field of developmental disabilities (DD). This year’s joint conference will bring together, in increased numbers, a cross section of all stakeholders - people with developmental disabilities, their family members, professionals and staff of county boards of DD and providers of residential and day service settings. "We're All in This Together."
The conference provides a valuable training program for staff development and to increase morale. Participants of the conference may choose from dozens of sessions, providing the opportunity for attendees to receive an estimated 20+ contact hours of training. Many agencies plan on the conference as a cornerstone of their staff development plan and send large groups of their staff for training. We encourage all agencies across the entire state of Ohio that are involved in developmental disabilities to have as many staff members as possible to attend the conference by providing discounts for group registrations. In addition to training, conference attendees will also have the opportunity to meet and share ideas with staff members from other agencies who attend the conference from all parts of Ohio. A sense of camaraderie and linkage is key to the development of a professional identity.
