This training will cover the following four topics:
Entering Adult Supports
Presenter: Scott Marks, Community Opportunities Director, OACB
In this session, Scott Marks, Community Opportunities Director of the Ohio Association of County Boards, will lead participants through an introduction to the world of support options for people with developmental disabilities as they enter adulthood. Scott will support students and parents in knowing what to expect and understanding the options that may be available to them, as they plan to live and work in their communities.
General Changes to the Adult Day and Supported Employment Services
Presenter: Lisa Mathis, Ph.D., Director of Employment and Health Services, OPRA
This session will review changes and examples of the Department of Developmental Disabilities (DODD) and the Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities (OOD) day and employment services, how these day and employment programs can be blended to best meet the needs of an individual, and how families/advocates/natural supports can be empowered to assist in making the best use of an individual’s budget.
Students Transitioning from School to Work
Presenter: Julie A Hance, Supported Employment and Transition Unit, OOD
This portion will include state and local collaboration on the provision of transition services including Pre-Employment Transition Services for students with disabilities who are transitioning from school to work. This includes discussion about supported employment and coordination of long term supports
Employment First Transition Framework
Presenters: Stacy Collins, Project Manager 2, Thomas Hess, Project Manager and Britta Hough, Project Manager, DODD
The Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities (DODD) will provide training on the current services available to transition youth in Ohio. DODD will focus on the Employment First Transition Framework and current employment services
6 hours of DODD certification is approved for Adult Services/Day Habilitation, Service & Support Administration, and Superintendent.
Early Intervention, Investigative Agent, and County Board Member is NOT approved.
6 hours of Social Worker, Counselor and Marriage & Family Therapist certification is approved.
You must attend the entire training to receive certification.
