Presenter: Margaret (Peg) Tobin - RN
This training will cover the following four topics:
"Perspective Determines Directive"
Everything we do or say is set in motion based on 'our' perspective of a situation. However, the question is, 'Is our perspective correct?' In the movie Dead Poet's Society the main character asked his students to step out of their comfort zone and take a look at things from a different perspective. If you, as a leader have a situation that is not falling in place, like you would like it to...is it possible the situation needs to be looked at by you from a different perspective?
"Making a Difference!"
'Differences' happen when each member of the team becomes 'accountable to the whole team'....accountability occurs when an associate takes ownership of their position and their role on the team. In order for a teacher to achieve ownership from the associates the teacher and leaders have to earn the trust of their associates. Team members will not buy into accountability or even want to make a difference in their work world until they see if their leaders and teachers are going to 'walk the talk' or just 'talk the talk'. They want to know if their leaders and teachers are going to teach it, preach it and do it?
"Leadership is not based on a position...!"
Leadership can rise from within a group and from a person no one ever suspected would step up. A true leader is not as focused on their title as they are focused on 'fulfilling' a vision. Just because a person is standing in front of a group giving directions does not mean they are the 'leader'. Leaders are the ones that paint the vision, encourage everyone to do their part and make everyone hungry to see the vision manifest. Becoming a leader is a lifelong process of growing, failing, getting back up and going at it again. People who become leaders have an insatiable appetite to learn, go the extra mile and take others along for the ride.
"Staff+Engagement = Quality"
Being able to keep employees engaged in their positions is one of the biggest challenges a leader has to face. Come to this education session and walk away with tools that have been tested and proven to be highly effective.
