The PAR Board of Trustees (the Board) shall be composed of fourteen representatives and four officers from across Ohio who represent a wide variety of different interests which may include private providers, self advocates, family members, vendors and county board staff.
Terms are 1-3 years with one third of the members being up for election each year. Seats on the board will be designated to insure representation in the above categories. When a vacancy in a representative category exists, the candidate that qualifies in the criteria will be elected to the board. After all representative categories are filled, the remainder of the board vacancies will be filled by the remaining candidates until all seats are filled. Vacant three year terms will be filled first, then two and one year terms. Board members will serve a three-year term and are eligible for re-election. The terms of office for board members and officers begin January 1st and end December 31st. Officers shall be elected from the board of trustees and shall serve on the board as long as their term of office continues. Board of trustee members elected as President, President-Elect, Secretary, Treasurer and Past President shall not be required to stand for election as board members during their terms of office. At the next election of trustees their representative seat shall be considered vacant and open for election.
The PAR Board meets in central Ohio 6 times a year. There is a 2 day overnight retreat in January and the conference is 3 days in October. Attendance is expected at each meeting/event.
